Who is it for?

This is a test in Dari and Pashto as part of the selection process for interpreters who will work in Afghanistan with the British Military. It is available exclusively to linguists who are going through thebigword recruitment process.

Free to linguists involved in the recruitment process

How long does it take?

The average length of time taken is 2 hours.

Are there any requirements?

You will require is an internet connection and basic computer skills.

What will I be tested on?

You will be tested on language proficiency in four disciplines:

  • Reading
  • Writing
  • Speaking
  • Listening

How will you assess me?

The Dari and Pashto Military Linguistic Test is market partly online and partly by an ISL assessor. You will be graded against the NATO Standardization Agreement (STANAG) system.

What will I get?

If you successfully pass the test, you will move on to the next level of the selection process.
