Nationally Recognised Community Interpreting Qualifications

ISL Community Interpreting Qualifications are suitable for bilingual people off all abilities, from those who are just starting out in the profession, practising interpreters who want to deepen their knowledge and add to their skills to those who are established and want to learn new specialisms to enhance their work opportunities.

With ISL you can study qualifications that will help you to find paid work as an interpreter or to stand out from the competition. Our qualifications* are:

  • Level 3 Certificate in Community Interpreting: the entry level qualification – for those just starting out (¬£774 incl. VAT, assessment and accredited certificate)
  • Level 4 Certificate in Community Interpreting:¬†for professional¬†interpreters who want a qualification (¬£954 incl. VAT, assessment and accredited certificate)
  • Level¬†6¬†Diploma in Community Interpreting: for those already practising, part qualified¬†or just starting out, this level includes law interpreting (¬£1434 incl. VAT, assessment and accredited certificate)

Regardless of whether you study at home or in a classroom, the qualification that you will receive is the same and you will receive support from our experienced tutors and assessors and the ISL team. Study the way that suits you best:

Distance Learning: Our most popular option, ISL distance learning qualifications can be studied from anywhere in the UK and can be fitted around your existing commitments such as work or childcare. Hundreds of students have already gained an ISL distance learning qualification.

Classroom Learning: For those who prefer a more structured approach to learning, we also offer classroom courses where you need to attend fixed classroom sessions and produce homework in between. (There are no more places available for the September cohort. The next available class is February 4th 2017. The closing date is the 20th January 2017)


Our payment methods are flexible and can be customised to your needs. You can either pay in full and save £50 on the course price or spread the cost over a number of interest free instalments. Typical instalment plans are:

Level 3: £774 incl. VAT, assessment and accredited certificate Р7 instalments of £110.57
Level 4: £954 incl. VAT, assessment and accredited certificate Р8 instalments of £119.25
Level 6: £1434 incl. VAT, assessment and accredited certificate Р12 instalments of £119.50

What do i need to be able to complete this course?

  • Access to a solid internet connection
  • A Skype account
  • Access to a desktop computer or laptop. (Skype assessments and the course content don’t work on smart devices such as iPhone)
  • A webcam
  • A microphone/sound card for the computer, if it isn’t already installed
  • Any of the¬†following¬†Internet Browsers: Firefox 2.0 and higher, IE 5.5 and higher, Safari 1.0 and higher or Google Chrome (all versions)
