How long does it take?

As this is a distance learning qualification, the time taken is down to you, but usually the completion time between 2 and 6 months.

Are there any requirements?

To successfully join these courses, you need to have Level 2 (Advanced level, GCSE A*-C or roughly B2 of the Common European Framework) in all areas of your English language competence.

Practical Requirements

As part of your course you will be required to demonstrate your skill at assessing learners occupational competence in a suitable environment. For example, if you are obtaining this certificate to use in the interpreting industry you will need to find learners to assess in the interpreting industry. (More advice on this can be provided by contacting us if you are in doubt РISL can help provide interpreting students to assess if that is your industry, otherwise you would need to find your own learners).

  • Unit 1 will be assessed through a series of assignments.
  • Unit 2 will be assessed through you practically assessing learners in a work environment and producing work products and audio visual evidence

For unit 2 you will need to secure a position or placement which will allow access to the assessment of nationally regulated qualifications.(e.g. NVQ units, QCF Qualifications, etc.)
